Terms and Conditions

Last updated: October 6, 2025

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the use of our website rentgomadeira.com (the “Website”) and the car rental services provided through our concept “Car Hire Madeira No Deposit, No Credit Card” in cooperation with local partners. By booking or using our services, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully before confirming your rental.

1. General Information

  • 1.1. RentGo Madeira is a local-focused car rental intermediary operating on Madeira Island in cooperation with local car rental partners.
  • 1.2. All bookings are subject to vehicle availability and confirmation by our staff or our local partners.
  • 1.3. By using our services, you confirm that you meet the driver and age requirements set out in these Terms and in your rental agreement with the local supplier.

2. Booking and Payment

  • 2.1. Reservations can be made via our Website, email, phone, or messaging apps indicated in your booking.
  • 2.2. Many of our offers operate on a no deposit / low deposit, no credit card required model. Payment can often be made by debit card or cash on arrival, depending on the specific offer and supplier.
  • 2.3. Prices generally include local taxes, a standard mileage allowance, and basic insurance as required by applicable local law, unless otherwise stated in the offer.
  • 2.4. Optional extras (child seat, GPS, additional driver, full cover, etc.) may be added at an extra daily cost, as shown in the offer or confirmed at pickup.
  • 2.5. In some cases, a small deposit or excess may still apply, even for “no credit card” offers. Any such amounts and conditions are clearly indicated before you confirm the booking.

3. Driver Requirements

  • 3.1. Drivers must meet the minimum age stated in the offer (for example, 21-25 years depending on vehicle category and supplier policy).
  • 3.2. A valid driving licence must be presented at pickup. Some licences may require an International Driving Permit (IDP) according to local rules.
  • 3.3. Drivers must have held a licence for at least 1–3 years, depending on the vehicle category and supplier policy.
  • 3.4. Additional drivers must be declared at the time of booking or at pickup and may be subject to a daily fee.

4. Insurance and Liability

  • 4.1. All rentals include basic third-party liability insurance in accordance with applicable local law (for example, Portuguese law for Madeira).
  • 4.2. Full cover insurance or excess reduction may be available to reduce or eliminate financial responsibility for damages, subject to the terms of the policy and the rental agreement.
  • 4.3. Insurance does not cover negligence, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, use on prohibited or unsuitable roads, or driving by unauthorized persons.
  • 4.4. Damage to tires, glass, interior, roof, or the underbody may not be included in standard coverage; please check the details of coverage and exclusions when booking and at pickup.
  • 4.5. In case of an accident or damage, you must immediately inform the local rental partner and follow the procedures indicated in the rental contract (such as calling the police or filling out accident forms).

5. Vehicle Use

  • 5.1. Vehicles must be used in compliance with local traffic laws and the supplier’s rental conditions.
  • 5.2. The vehicle may only be driven by the driver(s) listed on the rental agreement.
  • 5.3. Off-road driving or use on unpaved or unsuitable roads is not allowed unless explicitly authorized and insured by the local supplier.
  • 5.4. Smoking and carrying pets inside the vehicle is only allowed if agreed in advance and may lead to additional cleaning or damage fees.
  • 5.5. The renter is responsible for any fines, penalties, parking tickets, tolls, or towing fees incurred during the rental period.

6. Fuel and Mileage

  • 6.1. The standard fuel policy is usually “same-to-same” (return with the same fuel level as received), unless another policy (such as full-to-full) is specified in the offer or rental agreement.
  • 6.2. Vehicles may include unlimited mileage or a specific mileage allowance. Any excess mileage may be charged at the rate stated in the rental agreement.

7. Pickup and Return

  • 7.1. Pickup and return locations typically include Madeira Airport (FNC), hotels in Funchal, and agreed addresses in other resort areas, as specified in your booking.
  • 7.2. Vehicles must be returned at the agreed date, time, and place. Late returns may incur additional charges according to the supplier’s policy.
  • 7.3. The renter must return the vehicle in the same condition as received, subject to normal wear and tear. Additional cleaning fees may apply if the vehicle is returned excessively dirty or with strong odors (e.g. smoke, sand, pets).

8. Cancellations and Modifications

  • 8.1. Cancellation terms are indicated in each offer and may vary by season, rate type, and supplier.
  • 8.2. Cancellations made within the free-cancellation period (if offered) are usually free of charge. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee up to the full rental amount.
  • 8.3. Modifications (vehicle type, dates, extras, pickup/return time or location) are subject to availability and may affect the rental rate or incur additional fees.

9. Responsibility and Limitations

  • 9.1. RentGo Madeira acts as an intermediary between you and the local car rental provider. The rental agreement is ultimately concluded between you and the local supplier, whose terms and conditions also apply.
  • 9.2. RentGo Madeira is not liable for indirect losses, missed flights, or travel disruptions caused by accidents, delays, weather, road closures, or vehicle issues beyond our reasonable control.
  • 9.3. Roadside assistance is provided according to the conditions of the local rental partner. In case of accident or breakdown, contact the emergency number in your rental documents immediately.

10. Website Use

  • 10.1. The content on our Website is provided for general information and booking support. While we aim to keep information accurate and up to date, rates, availability, and conditions are ultimately confirmed in your booking and rental documents.
  • 10.2. You agree not to misuse the Website, attempt to gain unauthorized access, or use it for fraudulent or illegal purposes.

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operation of RentGo Madeira (for example, Portuguese law for services related to Madeira), unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
